AMD’s flagship Phenom II X4 940 processor does not support DDR3 memory, therefore AM3-DDR3 platform useless. Unless the use of DDR2 memory support AM3 motherboard, which is AMD’s flagship processor is wrong. Therefore, in April 20, AMD will be available the latest processors – the black box Phenom II X4 955, which based on the 45nm Deneb core CPU to support DDR3 memory and AM3.the core frequency to achieve a 3.2GHz (16 * 200MHz). Each core has a 512KB secondary cache, three-level cache for the 6M, the design of power dissipation is 125W. This CPU frequency will not lock, I believe that many of the AMD enthusiast to the temptation.
Here we see a pre-purchased from Hong Kong to the boxed Phenom II X4 955 processor (OPN HDZ955FBGIBOX), the price of the 2170 Hong Kong dollars, or 280 U.S. dollars.
A conservative estimate of this range of processors in the world price will be around 250-275 dollars, if the buy of bundled packages, the price will be lower. Phenom II X4 955 will be run on existing AM2 + and AM3 new motherboard, make this processor against Intel Core 2 Quad at more competitive.
Area on the motherboard, AMD and nVIDIA are already AM3-DDR3 ready platform, AMD’s DDR3 motherboards based on its 7-series chipsets, while nVIDIA has provided a new nForce 750an SLI and the nForce 980a SLI. DDR3 memory in the near term decline in prices at the same time, the motherboard manufacturers to prepare their high-end AM3 motherboards to 250 U.S. dollars mark.
